New lethal combo in making? Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal smash 50s in practice

With Cheteshwar Pujara not in the squad, Shubman Gill is most likely to be adjusted at the No. 3 spot for the West Indies series. This makes way for young Yashasvi Jaiswal to flex his muscles with India skipper Rohit Sharma at the top.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma are definitely the new explosive opening combo in the making for India ahead of the IND vs WI series. With Cheteshwar Pujara not in the squad, Shubman Gill is most likely to be adjusted at the No. 3 spot for the West Indies series. This makes way for young Yashasvi Jaiswal to flex his muscles with India skipper Rohit Sharma at the top.

Who will however open if Shubman Gill drops to Number 3 is still an unanswered question. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad will compete against one another for the opening position. In contrast, Gill will take Chesteshwar Pujara’s place as he is absent, and Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane will bat at positions 4 and 5, respectively.

Rahul Dravid and the Indian Team will get a fantastic chance to test these ideas against the West Indies. India will make a lot of changes to what should be a relatively straightforward tour compared to others, and they also intend to rest a lot of players, a practise known as workload management.

There are unlikely to be any other changes to the Indian team after this likely one. After India’s warm-up game, the debate between Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat will be resolved. A decision will also be made between Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur based on the Dominica pitch.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal

In the most recent practice game, both openers, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal made half-centuries. India skipper Rohit Sharma looked in fine form as after smashing 50 he walked back to the pavilion.

Starting on July 12 in Dominica, the Indian squad will play two Test matches against the Windies. Beginning on July 20, the second Test will be held at Queen’s Park Oval.
