In a significant development, Ryan ten Doeschate, the former Dutch international and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stalwart, has joined the Indian cricket team’s coaching staff as an assistant coach. He has joined the Men in Blue after his team, Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024, failed to qualify for knockouts.
Doeschate-Gambhir partnership renews!
Ten Doeschate’s association with Gautam Gambhir dates back to their successful partnership at KKR, where he won two titles as a player. The duo played a crucial role in the franchise’s IPL triumphs, and their collaboration is set to continue on the international stage, this time at Team India.
Doeschate & Nayar – Gambhir’s assistant coaches!
Gambhir, who recently took over as the head coach of the Indian team, had previously expressed his desire to have multiple assistant coaches who could contribute across all departments. With the appointment of ten Doeschate alongside Abhishek Nayar, the Indian team management aims to grant Gambhir his wishes.
The former Indian opener had confirmed the appointments of Nayar and ten Doeschate during his first press conference as head coach, stating, “I personally feel there can be assistant coaches who can probably involve themselves more in all three departments rather than just focusing on one, and that is the reason why now we have two assistant coaches as well.“
