In a groundbreaking move, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has announced a significant pay increase for its players, starting from the upcoming season. As part of the new initiative, each player will now earn an additional ₹7.5 lakh per match. This enhancement is seen as a milestone in recognising the dedication and consistent performances of IPL cricketers.
Earnings Set to Skyrocket for Players
Under the new scheme, a player who participates in all league matches can earn an impressive ₹1.05 crore on top of their regular contract amount. With this substantial boost, the IPL further cements its reputation as one of the most lucrative cricket leagues globally, rewarding the talent and hard work of its players.
Franchises to Allocate over Rs 12 Crore for Match Fees
Each IPL franchise will now allocate a total of ₹12.6 crore exclusively for match fees throughout the season. Notably, this announcement excludes the contract fees of each individual player.
This marks a considerable increase in the financial investment by team owners, underscoring the importance of recognising individual match performances
Jay Shah calls it a ‘Historic Move’

Rewarding Consistency and Performance
This pay hike is seen as a direct reward for players’ consistency and performances throughout the tournament. The additional earnings per match serve as an incentive for players to maintain top form throughout the season, making each match more competitive and exciting.
