Amidst the many battles that the IPL 2024 opener between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will throw up, former teammates and captains of opposition teams Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis will take the central stage. The two shares a great bond with each other, having shared the dressing room in the past. On Friday, Ruturaj opened up on the chat he had with Faf du Plessis ahead of the CSK vs RCB match.
During their time together at Chennai Super Kings in the 2021 IPL, Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad got along very well. During CSK’s winning run in the 2022 Indian Premier League, the pair rapidly developed a remarkable chemistry at the top. Du Plessis finished with 633 runs as Chennai won their fourth IPL championship, while Ruturaj won the Orange Cap with 635 runs.

“I just met Faf (du Plessis) in the meeting and I said, ‘Who would have thought a few years down the line, You playing for RCB and you leading RCB and you and me sharing the stage as a toss.
“So a lot to look forward to. And I think it is one of the most exciting first day games to look forward to,” Ruturaj said.
