India Women’s Cricket Team ace batter Smriti Mandhana has decided to change her batting position. Not in International Cricket, but in the 2024 Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy. The star opener has decided to drop herself to bat at number 8. This was done in a bid to promote youngsters to bat up the order.
Women’s red ball domestic cricket Tournament is back. The freshly won WPL skipper Mandhana also leads her side for the West Zone. Mandhana who always opens for her side made a stark change. This was the first time that she has came on to bat at a position lower than number 2.
The BCCI brought back the tournament to give youngsters chance to get ample game time. West Zone played their game against Central Zone. Mandhana’s side had an early collapse. But Anuja Partil slammed a ton (122) to bring back her side into the game.
And finally on came to bat Smriti Mandhana. The ace southpaw struck a fine fifty in just 52 balls. This showcased that Smriti Mandhana can bat at other positions as well, apart from the opening slot.
