MS Dhoni is one such cricketer who is admired by all Indian fans. And more so, he is equally respected by IPL team owners. One such example is Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka. While speaking in a podcast, Goenka went on to lavish huge praises for MS Dhoni claiming he learns something new from him every time.
“You look at MS Dhoni, I have never seen a leader like him. His thinking and way of approach, how a person at his age can reinvent himself. Look at Pathirana, he is a young bowler, Dhoni groomed him to be a lethal matchwinner. He knows how to use his players when and he thinks accordingly,” Sanjiv Goenka said in the TRS Podcast.
Learn Something New – Goenka in awe of MS Dhoni
Sanjib Goenka is literally floored every time he interacts with MS Dhoni. He went on to recount an interesting conversation where his 11-year-old grandson continued to pester Dhoni with a lot of cricketing questions. Rather than being bored, the former Chennai Super Kings captain spent 30 mins with the kid making the kid understand the game.
“Whenever I interact with him, I get to learn something. It was during the Lucknow vs Chennai match. I have an 11-year-old grandson who is crazy about cricket. Dhoni in my home taught him how to play cricket, some 5-6 years ago. He constantly asked him questions and I told my grandson ‘Leave him now’. Dhoni replied ‘Let it be, I am enjoying this conversation’.

Goenka further revealed that the human touch that MS Dhoni has makes him different from others. And that is also the reason why Dhoni has such a huge fan base in India. Goenka claimed that whenever Dhoni plays in Lucknow, the majority of the stadium flaunts Yellow colour to support the former India captain.
“Dhoni went on to have a conversation with him for half an hour. This human quality with a kid where he spent so much time for a kid. It makes you learn how to speak with others and that is why he is Dhoni. Whenever he plays against Lucknow, the entire stadium is filled with yellow to support him,” Goenka concluded.
