Never in doubt: Australia U19 skipper was confident of chasing down Pakistan

U19 World Cup: Australia U19 captain claims he had confidence on his team upon reaching World Cup finals

The U19 Australia Cricket Team made a sensation come back to secure a spot in the finals of the U19 World Cup. The boys in yellow beat Pakistan by 1 wicket to set date with India in the finals. Australian skipper Hugh Weibgen has claimed he had no doubt that his side would come out victorious.

Australia were almost on the verge of the exit. Pakistan took a huge grasp on the game when they continued to strike wickets at regular intervals. Ultimately Pakistan scalped wickets regularly down the order. But Raf MacMilllan, guided his side to a stunning victory in the last over.

Never in doubt, had full faith in Vids and Raf to get the job done. Lot of emotions in the dressing room. I still don’t know what happened. Tough to leave out Anderson, but Tom Straker bowled unbelievably today,” said Hugh Weibgen after the match.

“We felt like we were well prepared coming into this fixture. We fought so hard. Everytime we thought we were on top, we lost a wicket. 17-year-old Peake, such composure and maturity in the middle. India are a class team. We’ll love that challenge,” Weibgen added.

The stage is set for the grand finale on 11th February when India and Australia will fight for the coveted trophy.
