England’s debutant Tom Hartley brought out his best in the IND vs ENG 1st Test as team England completed a famous win at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. England were in trouble at 163/5 as Ollie Pope stepped in to play one of the greatest innings by any batter from his country in Test matches in India. He used the sweep to a very good effect, dismantling the Indian spinners in an attacking fashion to his 21 boundaries in his 278-ball vigil at the crease.
Team India also started well in their chase as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a decent start of 42 runs for the opening wicket. Debutant Tom Hartley was brought into the attack and he did wonders with the ball. The left-arm spinner took the crucial wickets of skipper Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, Srikar Bharat Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Siraj.
