Would it be fair to call Nepal cricket team, minnows? Well, perhaps not. They have been consistently churning out performances, and starting to make a mark, with their players also making a name for themselves in the T20 leagues around the world. Their improvement showed when they took on West Indies A, as a part of preparatory series for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Rohit Paudel-led Nepalese team beat a West Indies A, who had as many as 10 international capped players in their ranks.
Who Won Nepal vs West Indies Match?
After West Indies A scored 204 in their stipulated 20 overs, Nepal managed to cross the line in with two deliveries to spare. The star of the chase for the hosts was skipper Paudel, who scored 112 from 54 balls, hitting 10 fours and six sixes. He got some support from Dipendra Singh Airee, who smashed 24 from 18.
As far as the first innings is concerned, it was captain Roston Chase who scored 74 from 46. Opener Alick Athanaze also scored a quickfire 47 from 25. Keacy Carty also scored 38 from 26, to take the West Indies A to 204.
Big Achievement for Nepal
To beat a team that had 10 international players is a big deal, that too when Nepal was playing without their best bowler Sandeep Lamichhane. On the other hand, WI A had Chase, who has played 49 Tests, 45 ODIs, and 11 T20Is. Athanaze has played four Tests and 10 ODIs. Johnson Charles has 58 ODIs, and 48 T20Is to his name.. and the list goes on. The only player to have not played an international game in the line up was Kadeem Alleyne.
