The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will extend their support to the Nepal Cricket Team to ensure India’s neighbours appear at the T20 World Cup with the best possible preparation. Nepal will most likely practice in Delhi and play some practice matches before going for the T20 World Cup.
India’s foreign minister S. Jaishankar had promised Nepal’s cricket association of every possible assistance during his visit to the country in December. India will keep that promise it seems.
According to a report by news agency PTI, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) president Chatur Bahadur met BCCI secretary Jay Shah in the national capital on Friday on the sidelines of a WPL meeting. Bahadur reportedly requested Shah to help his country’s cricketers gain access to state-of-the-art infrastructure ahead of the T20 World Cup.
“CAN president Chatur Bahadur had met BCCI secretary Jay Shah during an ACC (Asian Cricket Council) meeting recently and invited him to come to New Delhi for a discussion. Accordingly, Mr Bahadur and Mr Shah met and BCCI secretary has asked him to draft a formal proposal as to what kind of help they expect from BCCI. Mr Shah has been very supportive of promotion of cricket in Nepal,” a CAN source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
