Nepal cricket team is currently camping in Gujarat to hone their skills ahead of T20 World Cup 2024. The marquee event, which will be co-hosted by the USA and the Caribbean, will get underway from June 1. Nepal will play the Friendship Cup against Baroda and Gujarat’s senior team as they prepare for the World Cup.
Nepal to use Gujarat expertise for T20 World Cup 2024
As per TOI, Nepal head coach Mrugang Desai reveals that the side wanted to play quality cricket and face the best of cricketers before the T20 World Cup. He also says that it will be a win-win situation for both Nepal and the state teams as they face off against each other in the seven-day T20 tournament.
“We have a very good national team that has the potential to beat the best. But ahead of the World Cup, we wanted to play quality cricket and face the best of the batsmen, bowlers and fielders,” Desai said.

The Cricket Association of Nepal reportedly reached out to Baroda Cricket Association and Gujarat Cricket Association and secured permission from BCCI to participate in the tournament. Desai adds that Nepal might also invite the state teams to play tournaments in Nepal annually if everything goes well.
