In a shocking development, Neeraj Yadav, an Asian Para Games 2023 gold medalist, tested positive for a banned substance in a test conducted by NADA right before the event started. As per the report in the Times of India, he could soon be stripped of the gold medals he won at the Asian Para Games.
It is noteworthy that Neeraj Yadav won two gold medals in the F55 category in the men’s javelin and discus. The report further suggests that the experienced Neeraj had tested positive in an out-of-competition test conducted by NADA, at SAI Bengaluru. Meanwhile, he will also have a chance to defend his case before NADA’s Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP).
What is interesting is that Neeraj had returned negative in the previous three tests, but the fourth result came out positive. The same has been confirmed by the Paralympic Committee of India officials. The report suggested that Neeraj was diagnosed with neural damage at the age of seven, and subsequently lost movement in legs and arms.
