Javelin Final LIVE Streaming: Neeraj Chopra, qualified for the final in his very first attempt with a throw of 88.39 metre in the qualification stage to sail into the final with utmost ease. Since Neeraj breached the 83.50 mark, he earned an automatic qualification for the final. He finished second behind defending champion Anderson Peters, who topped the qualifiers with a 89.91m throw.
Meanwhile, Rohit Yadav has made it to the final after finishing 11th in the qualification with a best throw of 80.42 m. With Rohit Yadav’s qualification, for the first time, two Indian javelin throwers have qualified for the finals of the World Athletics Championship and they are now eyeing medals.
- Neeraj Chopra is the overwhelming favourite to win a medal and if the 24-year old manages a podium-finish, he will become the second Indian after Anju Bobby George to win a medal at the World Championship.
- Anju won bronze in long jump at the 2003 edition. Neeraj could infact better Anju’s record and can go all the way to become the first Indian to win a gold medal at the competition.
- Neeraj will look to breach the 90m milestone and register his personal best with a big throw in the final.
- Neeraj’s personal best currently stands at 89.94m, a mark that he achieved at the Wanda Diamond League at Stockholm this year.
