As the Sri Lankan and Dutch fans waited for their teams to clash in the T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match on Tuesday, there was no broadcast of the same, or even any information too. But the unheralded Netherlands team beat the Islanders by 20 runs in their first warm-up match of the tournament, in Lauderhill.

Michael Levitt, Scott Edwards on Song in NED vs SL

After batting first, the Netherlands, as per kncb.nl, scored 181 in their allotted 20 overs, while Sri Lanka could only manage 161 in reply. Opener Michael Levitt was brilliant on the day as he scored 55 from only 28 deliveries to take his side to a solid total. Since it was a warm-up match only, Levitt retired after that.

There were valuable contributions from Teja Nidamanuru and skipper Scott Edwards as well, who ended up scoring 27 each. In Fact, Edwards’ blasted off the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park and scored his runs in 12 deliveries only.

Aryan Dutt Shines with Ball in Netherlands vs Sri Lanka

Come the chase, it was the Netherlands, all the way. The star with the ball was spinner Aryan Dutt as he bagged 3/20 in the match. Kyle Klein returned with figures of 2-13 and Logan van Beek bagged 1/8. Now, with this performance, all eyes will be on the Netherlands, who play their next warm-up match against Canada in Dallas.

Meanwhile, their first match of the T20 World Cup will be played against Nepal on June 4.
