But the unheralded Netherlands team beat the Islanders by 20 runs in their first warm-up match of the tournament, in Lauderhill.

After batting first, the Netherlands, as per kncb.nl, scored 181 in their allotted 20 overs, while Sri Lanka could only manage 161 in reply. Opener Michael Levitt was brilliant on the day as he scored 55 from only 28 deliveries to take his side to a solid total. Since it was a warm-up match only, Levitt retired after that.

There were valuable contributions from Teja Nidamanuru and skipper Scott Edwards as well, who ended up scoring 27 each. In Fact, Edwards’ blasted off the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park and scored his runs in 12 deliveries only.
