NCA New Head – Laxman or Kumble? The issue BCCI face is that BCCI had released an advertisement for the post of National Cricket Academy head in the month of August.
The deadline to apply for the post finished on 18th August. Dravid was the only candidate who had applied for the post. Now Dravid showing interest in the Indian Coach post, BCCI will have to redo the entire process.
According to the available information, BCCI has approached VVS Laxman for the role. But the former India batsman hasn’t shown much interest. Reason, he has to shift his base from Hyderabad to Bengaluru to take up the role.
Laxman is yet to give any firm reply on the offer. Sources in BCCI says that in-case Laxamn refuses to take up the role, current coach of the Punjab Kings Anil Kumble is likely to be approached for the role.
Will Kumble leave Punjab Kings to join NCA? Kumble stays in Bengaluru and can be suitable candidate for the post. InsideSport tried reaching out to the former India spinner – but could not get any reply.

Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid has formally applied for the role of Team India coach, after being convinced by the BCCI to take up the job. Dravid had initially been reluctant to take over the reins of the Indian team from Ravi Shastri but was convinced to give the mantle of NCA’s head and take the job. Paras Mhambrey, who worked alongside Dravid on India’s developmental sides, is set to become the bowling coach replacing Bharat Arun.

Rahul Dravid Salary: InsideSport had earlier revealed the salary offered to Dravid for the role of coach for the Indian team. Dravid will draw 10 Crore per annum salary for the role. To start with, he will be given a two-year contract till the 2023 World Cup in India along with his support staff.
The BCCI are yet to decide on the next fielding coach to replace the outgoing R Sridhar. Abhay Sharma, who has formed Dravid’s core team over the last six years, is interested while former India wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra too has applied for the post.
