Naveen ul Haq hits back at critics with ‘congratulations’ vs ‘support’ post after Aussie win

Naveen had a memorable game, taking two early wickets to unsettle Australia. He finished with the figures of 3/20 in 4 overs.

Following their historic victory over Australia, Afghanistan’s pacer Naveen-ul-Haq posted an Instagram picture that quickly went viral. During the current T20 World Cup on Sunday, June 22, he played a major role in one of Afghanistan’s greatest victories ever. Afghani victory over Australia meant that they would still be in the running for the semifinals.

Naveen ul Haq takes aim at hypocrisy

With Naveen taking two early wickets with the new ball to tie Australia back, Afghanistan got off to a perfect start, defending 149 on a wicket that was favourable to spin. However, his Instagram post criticizing critics has garnered greater attention.

Two scenarios—one in which a person is sitting by themselves in a stadium and the other featuring a stand full of spectators—are depicted in Naveen’s Instagram post. Congratulations are displayed on the second slide, while support is displayed on the first. A finger on the lips emoji was used by Naveen as a caption for the post.

What Naveen meant was that success is followed by back-patting from people who never supported the team when they were struggling.

Naveen the unsung hero

With the ball, Naveen had an amazing match. With a slower ball, he tricked Australian captain Mitchell Marsh as he holed out to Mohammad Nabi after first cleaning up Travis Head for a duck with a fuller ball. He later got the better of Ashton Agar to finish with figures of 3/20 in 4 overs.
