South Africa will take on Afghanistan in their last league group stage match of the ICC Men’s World Cup tomorrow at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After the thrashing in the hands of India, the Temba Bavuma-led side would be eager to be back to winning ways against Afghanistan. While the Proteas have already qualified for the semi-final, the Afghans need to win the match against SA to harbor hopes of their first-ever semis in the global event.
With so much at stake, all eyes will yet again be on the pitch report in Ahmedabad. This will be the fourth match played in Ahmedabad. So far, the pitches have been pretty sportive, with batters making the most of it by plundering runs at will. In the first game of the WC, the opener played between England vs New Zealand, Devon Conway, and Rachin Ravindra scored sublime hundreds to chase 270-plus target with relative ease.
In the AUS vs ENG match also runs were coming thick and fast. Only during IND vs PAK game the bowlers made merry, with India managing to bundle out Pakistan below 200. Ahmedabad Pitch also has red and black soil. So far, the matches have been played by mixing both.

It is still not clear whether the SA vs AFG match will be played in a mixture of pitches. But what is sure is that the pitch will be a batting-friendly one.
High-scoring game on cards as Afghanisthan eye another upset
Undoubtedly Afghans have been a revelation in the the WC so far, winning four games. They almost came close to winning their fifth game against Australia. With the Ahmedabad pitch aiding batters, Afghan batters will fancy going hard at the top. Afghans like to bat first, just like South Africa. With the pitch also aiding spinners, the Afghan troika of spinners Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, and Noor Ahmed will fancy choking SA batters with spin.
241 is the average first innings score on this ground. It is also pretty evens-Stevans as 14 teams have won batting first, and 14 teams have won while chasing.
