Najmul Hossain Shanto is confirmed to lead Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan that begins from November 6

Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue to lead Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Earlier, reports had claimed that the veteran wanted to resign as the captain across all formats of the game. Shanto is confirmed to lead Bangladesh in the series that begins from November 6.

Shanto to lead Bangladesh in BAN vs AFG ODIs

As per Cricbuzz, Najmul Shanto will continue to lead Afghanistan in the series against Bangladesh. Veteran Shakib al Hasan will not be part of the series as his absence from Bangladesh cricket continues. While it is understood that Hridoy and Hasan could replace Shanto as skipper in white and rec-ball formats, the veteran’s reign will continue in the series at Sharjah as well.

Tanzim Shakib and Litton Das have been left out of the squad for BAN vs AFG series. Uncapped player Nahid Rana has been named in the side.

A top Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official confirmed that Shanto “was not ready to lead the side after the series against South Africa”. Shanto is awaiting the response from the board on his decision. Efforts made by another top BCB director to convince Shanto to take back his decision hasn’t been fruitful so far.
