Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi will play Sri Lankan off-spinner Muthiah Muralidaran in the latter’s biopic. The film is rumoured to be titled ‘800’ and it will be directed by Tamil film director MS Sripathy.
The news was confirmed by movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh on Thursday as he tweeted the picture which shows a drawing of a bowler in action and has the text written, “Vijay Sethupathi is Muthiah Muralidaran.”

Former Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is considered one of the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket and he holds the record for the most wickets taken in Test and ODI format with 800 and 534 wickets respectively.
The 48-year-old also has the most five-wicket (67) and 10-wicket hauls (10) in Tests by any bowler.
Muralitharan is currently the bowling coach of Indian Premier League team Sunrisers Hyderabad.
