Such kind of poor form coupled with his age (35) might have led to his current decision. Also, the shorter format is the most taxing among all. However, he has expressed his desire to playing franchise cricket. He is one of the few players in world cricket to have played 100 plus T20 matches. He retires with 1500 runs under his belt, 42 catches and 32 stumpings under his belt.
It will be interesting to see how long can he sustain himself in the other formats of the game. He has the game to still play for a couple of years, though. The right-hander has played 82 Tests and 236 ODIs so far.
