An Afghani has replaced another one! Mumbai Indians (MI), who dealt a massive blow when Allah Ghazanfar was ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an injury, have found an able replacement. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who has experience of 19 IPL matches, has been signed as a replacement player for IPL 2025.

Mumbai Indians splashed Rs 4.80 crore at Allah Ghazanfar during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. The mystery spinner was blowing hot back then, taking wickets left, right, and centre. He has 21 wickets in 11 ODIs and was touted to be selected in the ICC Champions Trophy as well. However, an unfortunate fracture in the L4 vertebra has ruled him out.
Instead, Mumbai Indians (MI) have snapped up another talented Afghani spinner in Mujeeb, who has previously played for the likes of Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In a total of 19 IPL games, Mujeeb has claimed as many wickets at an economy rate of 8.18. Mujeeb, who hasn’t played in the league since 2021, is coming on the back of a superb SA20, where he took 14 wickets at an economy rate of 6.77. Mumbai’s pick to choose Mujeeb is a straight like-for-like replacement, giving them “mystery” going into IPL 2025.
The five-time champions are not known for their spin exploits but made conscious efforts to bolster their spin department this time around. Apart from this, they bought in Mitchell Santner and Karn Sharma. Will Jacks, who is a destructive batter, can also roll his arms over.
