Mumbai Indians give official statement on why Rohit Sharma missed out on MI’s Practice Game

While Rohit Sharma's absence from the practice match raised questions, the official statement clarifies his focus on a customized training program designed to optimize his performance for the crucial season ahead.

IPL 2024: The Mumbai Indians (MI) have released an official statement ahead of Indian Premier League 2024 clarifying Rohit Sharma’s absence from their recent practice game.

Rohit Sharma following Customized Training Regimen

The statement reveals that Sharma, who rejoined the MI squad earlier this week, is currently undergoing a specialized training program. This program prioritizes simulated net sessions, alongside mobility and strength and conditioning exercises.

To optimize this focused training, Sharma remained in Mumbai and did not participate in the practice match held on Wednesday.

According to an statement issued by Mumbai Indians on late Wednesday night, “Rohit Sharma who joined the squad on Monday, is on a customized training program that involves simulated net sessions, mobility and strength and conditioning sessions, for the past three days, hence stayed back in Mumbai to focus on his pre-season program.”

“Rohit did not take part in the practice game held today (on Wednesday),” it added.

MI Gears Up for Season Opener

The practice game, played behind closed doors, marked a key step in MI’s preparation for the upcoming IPL season. Head Coach Mark Boucher addressed the team before the match, outlining the objectives for the practice session and underlining the team’s long-term goals for the season.

Eyes on Opener: GT vs MI

MI will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The high-voltage clash will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST.

While Rohit Sharma’s absence from the practice match raised questions, the official statement clarifies his focus on a customized training program designed to optimize his performance for the crucial season ahead.
