After leading Chennai Super Kings to 5 elusive titles MS Dhoni handed his captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of IPL 2024

In the IPL 2024 season, MS Dhoni has shown once more that age is just a number for him. Despite being 42, Dhoni has shown no signs of slowing down, making some impressive cameos for CSK. However, the prospect of Dhoni’s final season stays with everyone, especially after the famous wicketkeeper handed over the captaincy to Rutura Gaikwad before the season began.

During commentary duty with JioCinema, former Chennai Super Kings star Suresh Raina offered a succinct response when questioned about MS Dhoni‘s potential participation in the IPL 2025 season. Raina, alongside RP Singh, conveyed his belief that Dhoni would indeed grace the next season of the IPL. Singh initiated the discussion, expressing his view that it didn’t appear to be his final IPL season before turning to Raina for his input.

“It doesn’t seem like this will be his last season,” Singh remarked, prompting Raina to respond with a single word, affirming Dhoni’s intent to continue playing: “Khelenge (Will play),” stated Raina.

Throughout IPL 2024, Dhoni has once again showcased his timeless prowess on the cricket field. Against Mumbai Indians, his remarkable ability to finish games was on full display as he smashed three consecutive sixes off Hardik Pandya, amassing 20 runs from just 4 balls and bolstering CSK’s total with a strike rate of 500.

Despite relinquishing captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhoni’s influence remains palpable on the field. He has been pivotal in critical plays, executing spectacular catches and run-outs, thus significantly contributing to CSK’s defensive efforts.
