MS Dhoni takes cheeky dig at “fans discussing IPL retentions”, says “everyone is a team owner”

The only thing that an average cricket fan in India cares about right now is, IPL retentions, as the team will make their decisions public on October 31.

While entire India is busy discussing the IPL retentions, which player will to which franchise, and the IPL auctions, MS Dhoni is having a gala time just by looking at what is transpiring around him. Speaking at the RIGI Prabhav 2024, Thala said, “Everyone is a team owner now. Whatever player they want…which player is coming to auction, which player they will buy, we should this.., IPL auction is like that.”

MS Dhoni’s Take on Fans’ IPL Retention Predictions

“People come into the auction, and you don’t know where you’re going. The best part is the fans..they predict in which team a certain player will go. Look, you’re in a market, and all teams have money. Whoever buys you, you’ll have to play for them. That is the beauty of IPL auction. It is not a trade, that A player is getting traded to B franchise. You can go anywhere,” MS Dhoni concluded.

IPL Retention Rumours

While there have been rumours just about every team, and player, let us look at some of the fresh ones. Starting with KL Rahul, many believe, he is not getting retained by LSG, and will go to RCB as skipper. Then, KKR is not interested in retaining Andre Russell, and Shreyas Iyer isn’t willing to continue with KKR.

On the other hand, there are also reports that suggest, that Rishabh Pant might enter the auction and be bagged by CSK. Iyer could be bought by PBKS as, and then be made the skipper of the team. Another new rumour that has just started is, regarding Washington Sundar, where the “experts” claim, that SRH won’t retain him, and CSK, GT, and MI are interested in bagging him at the auction.
