Even at 43, MS Dhoni, when in full swing, is blissful to watch. At least that can be said about his glovework, if not the batting anymore. He is just ready to give it his all, and that is why, he is IPL‘s most successful wicket-keeper of all times. Monday was another of his masterclass, as in the last over of the LSG innings, he effected a run-out that no one else can remotely even think of.
MS Dhoni Effects Brilliant Run Out
After missing a Matheesha Pathirana delivery, Abdul Samad went for a quick run, as Dhoni gathered it. Despite getting slightly off balance, MSD got up in time, and just tossed the ball up towards the non-strikers end, with it hitting the stumps. Such was his precision, that the batter fell short of the crease by a whisker only.
Scales Mount 200 in IPL
Having said that, that wasn’t Dhoni’s only achievement behind the wickets on the day. He took a catch of Rishabh Pant, and then even effected the stumping of Ayush Badoni, that took his overall dismissals as keeper to 200. That means, he became the first wicket-keeper in the history of IPL, to have 200 victims.
The next best on the list is Dinesh Karthik, who has 182 victims to his name, followed by AB de Villiers at 126, Robin Uthappa and 124, and Wriddhiman Saha at 118. Meanwhile, CSK restricted LSG to 166 in the clash, and the visiting team is looking for their second win of the IPL 2025 season.
Currently they lie in the 10th spot in the IPL 2025 points table, but still have a realistic chance of making the playoffs.
