MS Dhoni, the heartbeat of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), seems to be battling a new injury concern – a back niggle. This adds to the growing list of physical hurdles Dhoni has faced in recent seasons, including ankle and knee issues.
During Match 61 of the IPL 2024 between CSK and Rajasthan Royals (RR), Dhoni was spotted requesting a back brace in the third over of the RR innings. He donned the support for the remainder of the match, raising concerns about his fitness.
Reports suggest Dhoni was seen using the same back brace after the match against Gujarat Titans (GT) as well. CSK endured a tough 35-run defeat against GT.
MS Dhoni adamant to play for his fans despite multiple injury scares
Dhoni’s dedication to CSK and his fans is undeniable. Despite the back trouble, he seems committed to contributing on the field. However, the back brace and the timing of the request – early in the innings – suggest the discomfort might be significant.
CSK coach Stephen Fleming has previously acknowledged Dhoni’s pre-season muscle injury and the team’s strategy to manage his workload to avoid aggravating it. Notably, he underwent knee surgery last year.
