MS Dhoni finally gets dismissed for the first time after eight innings in IPL 2024

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have become the first team to see the back of MS Dhoni in IPL 2024 after the CSK maestro was dismissed for the first time

We stand on the brink of the 50th game in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and it has taken this long for MS Dhoni to get dismissed for the first time this season! Moreover, the bona fide legend is yet to be dismissed by a bowler.

In Match 49 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Chepauk, Dhoni was once again welcomed with the loudest cheers. The former CSK captain aimed to cap off the innings on a high, as he has been doing all season.

However, PBKS threw a great tactic against Dhoni on Wednesday as they handed the ball to leg-spinner Rahul Chahar, who bowled the penultimate over of the innings. Incredibly, he leaked only two runs while bowling four balls to Dhoni in that over.

The last over was bowled by Arshdeep Singh, who got hit for a four and a six. On the very last ball of the innings, Dhoni eyed to launch another one into the stands but was dismissed via a run-out by Harshal Patel at short third man. After as many as eight innings, this was Dhoni’s first dismissal in IPL 2024. He now finally has a batting average against his name, which now reads at 110.00. This is the best average by any player in IPL 2024 so far. After eight innings, Dhoni has mustered 110 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 229.16.
