MS Dhoni defamation case: Court refuses stay in 100 cr lawsuit against IPS officer – The Madras High Court has refused a stay order of a defamation case filed by former Indian captain MS Dhoni. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain had filed a lawsuit against IPS officer G Sampath Kumar. The case has been long-running having been filed in 2014, and the latest stay order is a major blow for the said IPS officer.

Dhoni Defamation Case – Chennai Super Kings: As per TV9, the defamation petition, filed by MS Dhoni, said that a TV media company and others allegedly ran a piece of defamatory news saying that he was involved in match and spot-fixing and betting in IPL matches. MS Dhoni had demanded a ban on giving statements and printing of the accused involved in the defamation case, including G Sampath Kumar. Sampath Kumar was involved in the investigation of the IPL betting case.
The CSK captain said that since February 11, 2014, the accused have been making serious, defamatory, defamatory and fake news and statements against him. The only motive is to tarnish and tarnish his image in the eyes of cricket fans around the world. The former India captain demanded Rs 100 crore in return for the loss caused to him.

The accused, G Sampath Kumar had filed a petition challenging the defamation case. In his affidavit, he said that this case has been done to rein in him. He filed the case with Madras High Court, as none of the three other accused were from the state of Tamil Nadu.

The claims come after CSK were embroiled in a spot-fixing controversy, which included Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of CSK owner and former BCCI president N Srinivasan. CSK were handed a two-year suspension alongside Rajasthan Royals, who had three players – Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan banned from the sport.
