Yashasvi Jaiswal has made history by becoming the third-highest run-scorer for India in a calendar year in Test cricket. With an impressive total of 1,478 runs in 2024, Jaiswal has outpaced the iconic Virender Sehwag’s 1,462 runs from 2008, securing his position among cricket’s all-time greats.
However, Jaiswal still falls short of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record with 1,562 runs in 2010, and Sunil Gavaskar, who scored 1,555 runs in 1979. This impressive achievement includes three centuries, highlighting his consistency and adaptability in Test cricket. A standout achievement in Jaiswal’s 2024 season was his back-to-back double centuries against England in January. He became only the third Indian batsman, after Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli, to accomplish this feat, and the third-youngest cricketer in Test history to score two double centuries, following Sir Don Bradman and Vinod Kambli.
