India Cricket Team ace pacer Arshdeep Singh is just a step away from achieving a huge record. With 86 wickets to his name, the speedster finds himself in the 5th position of Indian bowlers with the most wickets in T20Is. However, if he adds a few more wickets in the IND vs BAN 2nd T20I, he will achieve some major milestones and feathers to his cap.
Having made his debut in T20Is just 2 years back, the 25-year-old has already racked up 86 wickets in just 55 matches. Compared to the other Indian greats, Arshdeep Singh has taken the least games reaching 86 wickets. Interestingly, if he manages to have a four-fer, he will become the joint second-highest wicket-taker for India in the shortest format.
Most Wickets for India in T20Is
Name | Mat | Wkts | BBI | Ave | Econ | SR |
YS Chahal | 80 | 96 | 6/25 | 25.09 | 8.19 | 18.37 |
B Kumar | 87 | 90 | 5/4 | 23.1 | 6.96 | 19.9 |
JJ Bumrah | 70 | 89 | 3/7 | 17.74 | 6.27 | 16.95 |
HH Pandya | 103 | 87 | 4/16 | 25.64 | 8.14 | 18.88 |
Arshdeep Singh | 55 | 86 | 4/9 | 18.26 | 8.28 | 13.23 |
Just ahead of Arshdeep stands Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah with 87 and 89 wickets respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is however second on the list with 90 wickets to his name. Currently on 86 wickets, a solitary wicket will make Arshdeep joint-fourth, and a three-wicket haul will make him at par with Bumrah.
Arshdeep bagged a three-wicket haul in the previous game and if he continues his red-hot form, he can easily cross Hardik and even match Bumrah in the IND vs BAN 2nd T20I in Delhi.
But his quest to reach the top spot will take a bit of time. Ace leggie Yuzvendra Chahal occupies the top spot with 96 wickets to his name. But with Arsdeep achieving his landmark in 55 games is a testament to his consistency and grit shown over the last 2.5 years.
