Most Sixes by IPL Teams: DC last in the six-hitting list, CSK on top – Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Shimron Hetmyer — all the names in Delhi Capitals’ batting line-up send chills to a bowler’s spine with their sheer power-hitting capabilities. Yet, the Delhi Capitals batsmen are more interested in hitting 4s and not sixes. In fact, Pant & Co have the lowest sixes in IPL 2021 with 54, miles off their nearest rivals Sunrisers Hyderabad. But their Qualifier 1 opponent MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings have continued the reputation, smacking the highest number of sixes, almost the double of DC, with 100.
In fact, Rishabh Pant & Co have the second-lowest boundary percentage in IPL 2021 as well with just 54%. In 14 matches, DC have scored 2,180 runs and only 1172 runs came off boundaries while Chennai Super Kings have the highest with 1,412 runs with a percentage of about 60.

Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan have an equal number of sixes with 14 each. They are followed by Shimron Hetmyer and Rishabh Pant with 9 and 8 respectively. As for CSK, Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad have hit 20 each, followed by Ambati Rayudu and Moeen Ali with 17 and 16 respectively.

IPL 2021: Why DC not amongst top six-hitters?
- Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan are the two highest contributors to DC’s runs with over 800 runs.
- Both of them have relied on boundaries rather than sixes.
- DC have played mostly on slower wickets where hitting sixes have been difficult.
- Rishabh Pant too hasn’t had his six-hitting arms on display this time. In playing responsibly, he has not gone for the big sixes much this time.
- Shimron Hetmyer too has had to rely on groundstrokes rather than the big ones to stay on the crease for longer.
- In fact, compared to IPL 2020, there have been the least number of boundaries in IPL 2021.
- In IPL 2020, there were 1582 fours and 734 sixes.
- In IPL 2021, with four matches to go, there has been 1460 fours and 641 sixes.

Punjab Kings captain and Orange Cap holder KL Rahul leads the way with 30 sixes this season, miles off his nearest competitor Glenn Maxwell (21). He is followed by CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis with 20 each.
