As per Yahoo’s 2021 Year in Review (YIR) for India, Indian captain Virat Kohli is only second to Indian prime minister Narendra Modi in the most searched personality category. In Yahoo’s India year-ender list of 2021, Kohli was the most searched sports personality followed by former Indian captain MS Dhoni and star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra.
It was a tough year for Kohli personally as he suffered heartbreaks with RCB and the Indian team in the IPL 2021 and the T20 World Cup. He further made two huge announcements, announcing the birth of his daughter Vamika, while also resigning as captain of the Indian T20 team and RCB. Kohli led India to the World test Championship final as well, but no silverware arrived for him this year.

MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, remains to be one of the most inspirational figures in the world of cricket and is ranked sixth on the list. The former Indian captain was retained by the Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction, having led the team to their fourth IPL title earlier this year.
India’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra is the only non-cricket sports personality on the list. Chopra, who bagged a historic gold medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020, is ranked 19th in the list. Chopra has been one of the most in-demand sports personalities in India ever since he bagged a gold medal in the javelin’s men’s throw final in Tokyo.
