Behind Lanning comes her Aussie legend Ricky Ponting, who elevated his team to unprecedented heights in men’s cricket. Australia won four major ICC titles under his direction, including two consecutive ICC Cricket World Cup victories in 2003 and 2007 and ICC Champions Trophy victories in 2006 and 2009.

Former India captain MS Dhoni, the only skipper to win all three major ICC tournaments, is ranked third. India won the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 under his direction. They then won the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup for the second time, bringing the trophy home after 28 years. The 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, which is still the only major ICC tournament India has won to this day, marked India’s last victory under his captaincy.

Most ICC Titles won by a Captain

  • 5 – Meg Lanning (2014, 2018, 2020, 2023 T20 World Cup and 2022 ODI World Cup)
  • 4 – Ricky Ponting (2003, 2007 ODI WC and 2006, 2009 Champions Trophy)

Coming to the match, Australia defeated South Africa by a score of 19 runs to win the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 on Sunday at Cape Town’s Newlands Cricket Ground,. Megan Schutt, Ashleigh Gardner, Darcie Brown, and Jess Jonassen all claimed a wicket apiece, showcasing the strong bowling performance of Australia.

Before that, Beth Mooney helped Australia score 156/6 in 20 overs with an unbeaten 74* (53) that included nine fours and a six. Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp, who each had two wickets to their credit, were in outstanding form at the same time.
