Morne Morkel initially joined the coaching staff of LSG before the IPL 2023 season. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in nurturing the talents of players like Mark Wood, Avesh Khan, and Mohsin Khan, all of whom demonstrated remarkable growth under his guidance. Despite their progress, the Super Giants found themselves halted in the semi-finals for the second consecutive time, unable to progress further in the tournament.
Interestingly, Morne Morkel has also taken up the responsibility of being Pakistan’s bowling coach, showcasing his wide-ranging expertise in honing the skills of bowlers. With a career spanning various IPL franchises, including the Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), and Kolkata Knight Riders, Morkel boasts a rich history in the league. Having bowled his last over in the IPL during the 2016 season, he left a lasting impact by claiming 77 wickets in 70 matches.
In a parallel development, former Australia head coach Justin Langer has embraced his first coaching role in the IPL. Langer is all set to guide the Super Giants as their coach, injecting his wealth of experience into the team’s strategies and performance. Another noteworthy change in the coaching landscape involves Andy Flower, who has assumed the position of head coach for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
