“More security staff..” – Michael Atherton destroys Pakistan over low crowd turnout for Multan Test

PAK vs ENG: Over the last few years, ever since cricket has come back to Pakistan, the PCB hasn't been able to tackle the problem of low crowd turnout in Tests.

Multan is hosting the first Test between Pakistan and England, and the match has been a total disappointment so far, in terms of the quality of pitch, and event the sparse crowd at the venue. While commentating, former England skipper Michael Atherton made a quirky remark, that just brought the entire issue to the fore.

He said that there were more security personnel at the stadium, that the spectators. “There are probably more security staff at the stadium than people in the crowd,” Atherton quipped.

PAK vs ENG, Multan Test

As far as the match is concerned, Pakistan continued to pile on the misery on English bowlers. Saud Shakeel scored 82 in 177 deliveries, while Naseem Shah added a valuable 33. Unfortunately, Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for a duck, but then Agha Salman stayed unbeaten at 79 at tea on day 2.

All this after Abdullah Shafique scored 102 on day 1, and skipper Shan Masood smashed 151 from 177. Meanwhile the second Test of the series will be played in Multan only, beginning on October 15, followed by third Test in Rawalpindi on October 24.
