Playing in his last Test innings, Warner, true to his aggressive style, scored 57 off 75 balls in front of his home crowd in the Sydney Cricket Ground. Warner has had a long Test career, scoring 8786 runs from 112 matches in the longest format of the game. He maintained a fantastic average of 44.59 and a strike-rate of 70.19 in Tests, scoring 26 hundreds and 37 half-centuries.
Sehwag, who had shared the dressing room with Warner in IPL for the Delhi Daredevils, took to social media to congratulated the Aussie legend for a career ‘full of entertainment’. Sehwag further said he hoped to see Warner ‘more in reels and T20 cricket’ after hanging up his boots.
“Congratulations @davidwarner31 on a wonderful Test career. Since the time I saw you, knew this is the format you will excel most in and what a ride it has been. Full on entertainment on the pitch and now hopefully more in reels and T20 cricket. Best wishes for the next phase,” Sehwag wrote on social media platform X (previously Twitter) along with a picture of the duo during the Delhi Daredevils days.
