Shreyanka Patil was overjoyed after her encounter with Virat Kohli at the RCB Unbox event held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Tuesday, March 19.
Shreyanka played a pivotal role in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s victory in the 2024 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final on Sunday, March 17, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The 21-year-old shared a photo on her social media, posing alongside Kohli, who is set to feature for the RCB men’s team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. She wore a radiant smile, expressing that meeting Kohli was a dream come true moment for her.
In her caption, Shreyanka expressed her admiration for Kohli, stating, “Started watching cricket because of him. Grew up dreaming to be like him. And last night, had the moment of my life. Virat said, ‘Hi Shreyanka, well bowled.’ He actually knows my name.”
Shreyanka had a remarkable performance in the WPL, emerging as the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets in 8 games at an economy rate of 7.30, including two four-wicket hauls. Despite facing a minor injury on her non-bowling arm, she made a strong comeback and played a crucial role in the team’s success.
In the league stage against the Capitals, she claimed a four-wicket haul, although the Challengers narrowly lost the match. However, in the final, Shreyanka showcased her prowess by taking four key wickets, including those of notable players like Meg Lanning and Taniya Bhatia.
Over the past year, Shreyanka has shown significant growth, representing the Indian national team in ODIs and T20Is, further solidifying her reputation as a promising talent in Indian cricket.
