Moin Khan wants PCB to retaliate if India doesn’t travel to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy

Moin Khan wants PCB to retaliate if India doesn’t travel to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy

The Champions Trophy will be the first ICC to be held in Pakistan since the 1996 ODI World Cup.

The ICC Champions Trophy is just five months away. Yet, there isn’t any certainty over India travelling to Pakistan for the event. The other six teams are locked in, as are hosts Pakistan. It’s been 16 years since India went across the border for a cricket match and it doesn’t look like it’ll change soon.

Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan feels that if India doesn’t come for the Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should take a stand. “India must honor ICC commitments, and if they don’t, Pakistan should also consider taking a stand by not participating in future tournaments in India,” Moin Khan told Cricket Pakistan.

Indian legends should step up

Moin Khan also added that he feels, Indian great should advice the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). If feels that politics shouldn’t come in the way of cricket and that neither board is benefitting.

“In my view, Indian cricket legends should advise the BCCI to keep sports separate from politics. Fans worldwide want India and Pakistan to play, benefiting not just Pakistan but the sport as a whole,” he added.

However, what Moin doesn’t understand is that BCCI doesn’t have the power to make the decision. Until the Indian government decided that the Indian cricket team should travel to Pakistan, the BCCI couldn’t do anything. It doesn’t matter if someone of Sachin Tendulkar’s stature says that Team India should tour their neighbors if the government isn’t in favour of them travelling.
