Mohit Sharma was bagged by DC this year in the IPL Auction for 2.20 Cr, and would be bowling alongside Mukesh Kumar, T Natarajan, Mitchell Starc, and Dushmantha Chameera. Speaking to India Today, the 36-year-old conceded that this was the best bowling attack he was ever part of in the IPL. Among spinners there is Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel as well.
Mohit Sharma Opens up on DC Bowling Attack
On being asked the same, Mohit Sharma said, “On paper yes, but we will get the clear picture after stepping onto the ground. How we will perform as a unit and will execute our plans. I don’t really go by what’s on paper, it’ a different scenario at the moment, all ten teams right now look good. The first ten days will be really crucial for us to come together as a unit and execute our plans. It’s a great unit, but a player only becomes great after executing his plans,” Mohit told India Today.
The Impact Sub Rule
One of the talking points in the IPL is the impact sub rule, where a lot of experts don’t agree with the relevance of the rule. But Mohit has no issues with it, as long as it gives an opportunity to an Indian. “I don’t have any problem with it. If an extra player is playing that it’s great for Indian cricket. It’s great entertainment, keep it going,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mohit has been decent in the last few years in the IPL. Last year, in 12 matches he ended with 13 wickets, and in 2023, he bagged 27 wickets in 14 matches. Overall in 112 matches he has 132 wickets at an average of 24, and a economy rate of 8.67.
