Gujarat Titans edged past Punjab Kings to register a narrow 3-wicket victory. With this win, Gujarat Titans have now moved up to the 6th spot in the Points Table. Ace bowler Mohit Sharma heaped praises for Rahul Tewatia who played a crucial knock in finishing the game for the hosts.
“There were a lot of positives from the game. As a bowling unit we did well. The plan was to take the game deep rather than being too focussed on the run rate. Sai Kishore was the anchor and he bowled really well. These 2 points were extremely necessary. We have been desperately looking to build on the momentum,” said Mohit Sharma after the game.
Huge Praises for Rahul Tewatia
It was Sai Kishore’s brilliant 4-wicket haul that restricted Punjab Kings from scoring huge runs. The spinner gave away 33 runs and bagged 4 crucial wickets to reduced Punjab Kings to scoring just 142 runs. But it was ace finisher Rahul Tewatia who finished the game for the visitors.
Tewatia hammered an unbeaten knock of 36 runs from 18 deliveries where he slammed 7 fours. His destructive cameo helped GT register the much needed win.
“For the last 3 years he (Rahul Tewatia) has been with the GT team. He has previously done it before multiple times (finishing matches for his side). All credit goes to him. At the nets he practices these same scenarios. It is also a challenge for us when we bowl to him. He played a vital innings which no doubt was the turning point of the game for us,” Mohit added.
