Mohd Siraj’s dismal season should be worry for Team India ahead of T20 World Cup

Siraj has been an utter disappointment, with an economy rate of 10.40, taking just 4 wickets, being the worst powerplay bowler

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are languishing at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2024. The bowling line-up, like every season, has not been up to par. Lead pacer Mohammed Siraj, has been the worst bowler in the powerplay among all teams in the current IPL. And that should be worryin for Team India. With Mohammad Shami out with injury and Arshdeep Singh strugglin for form, Siraj would have been India’s 2nd lead pacer to partner Jasprit Bumrah in T20 World Cup 2024.

However, Siraj has been disappointing to say the least in powerplay. In the 10 overs he has bowled during the powerplay, he has leaked 123 runs. Siraj has an economy of 12.3, conceding 10 sixes.

Siraj in IPL 2024

  • Matches: 6
  • Balls bowled: 132
  • Runs conceded: 229
  • Wickets: 4
  • Economy (powerplay): 12.3
  • Economy (overall): 10.41

His worst game has been against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where in his 3 overs, he gave away 46 runs, with an economy rate of 15.33.

Big headache for selectors for T20 World Cup

Arshdeep Singh has the history of the worst season with respect to the economy, giving away 10.3 last season. Siraj is bound to beat the record comfortably. With the T20 World Cup 2024 fast approaching and Siraj being the second lead pacer for Team India, it is a deep cause of concern. Selectors will be choosing the team in on April 30, Siraj might be opted out of the playing 11.

Rest Siraj before T20 World Cup: fans

Harbhajan Singh also stated recently that he should be rested for a few games. Brian Lara also said Siraj should be rested. He stated that the pacer is mentally and physically tired. Fans on social media are worried with his form ahead of T20 World Cup 2024.
