Mohammed Siraj bowls the fastest ball at 181.6 kmph? Here’s the truth

Siraj could get any wickets on Day 1 of the IND vs AUS 2nd Test being played in Adelaide.

The opening day of the Test between India and Australia saw a mix of humour, sledging and intensified action, highlighted by a technical glitch as the speed gun clocked a jaw-dropping 181.6kmph after Mohammed Siraj’s delivery on Friday, December 6, 2024. Bowling the 24th over, Siraj’s final delivery displayed a record-shattering speed, which was clearly an error, prompting a wave of memes on social media. But the drama didn’t stop there. Before the fifth ball, Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne stepped away from the crease, citing a distraction caused by a fan holding a beer snake near the sight screen. Frustrated, Siraj then exchanged heated words with Labuschagne, adding a fiery moment to the day, as he will have to take the run up again.

IND vs AUS highlights

Earlier in the day, Rohit Sharma returned to his duty and the Indian skipper had very minimal hesitation in opting to bat first on winning the toss. Mitchell Starc showed how quick he can bowl and blew away the visitors with his career-best figures of 6/48.

Starc swung the pink-ball right from the get-go, and he was simply unplayable on a day when he was ruling the pitch. He was nicely supported by Scott Boland and Pat Cummins, who shared the remaining four wickets equally. For India, Nitish Kumar Reddy played a handy knock but failed to get to his fifty.

At stumps, Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney remained at the crease with the Aussie scoreboard showing 86/1 in 33 overs. Day 2 of the upcoming India vs Australia 2nd Test promises to be another thriller for the fans.
