The Bengal cricket team will be boosted by the return of veteran Wriddhiman Saha for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. The Anustup Majumdar-led team comprises of seasoned cricketers who have made the cut for the first two Ranji games. Bengal will begin their campaign by taking on Uttar Pradesh on October 11 in Lucknow.
Shami out, brother in for Ranji Trophy
Mohammed Shami, who is still recovering from his injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), has been left out of the squad. While he is making efforts to make his return to competitive cricket soon, it wasn’t expected of the veteran to be fit in time for Bengal’s Ranji Trophy opener. His brother Kaif, has been named in the squad instead.

Pacers Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar have also been named in the squad for the first two rounds. The duo will enter the tournament riding on the back of some good form, especially with the red-ball.
