Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami on Tuesday updated his fans on his injury and uploaded a series of photos of himself using crutches to X (previously Twitter). Since competing against Australia in the ODI World Cup final on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the speedster has not participated in any type of cricket competition.
Mohammed Shami’s long absence
Mohammed Shami was absent from the Test series against South Africa and England, as well as the T20Is against Australia. Additionally, the pacer was not selected to play for Gujarat Titans in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). In the IPL 2023, Shami won the Purple Cap after finishing the tournament as the leading wicket-taker. Even though things have been difficult, Shami isn’t giving up on his dreams of recovering quickly.

Injury recovery
Shami has been battling injuries and enduring a number of surgeries. He had a chronic heel problem at first, which required surgery in February 2024. As a result, he was unable to play in the IPL.
Following the removal of stitches after 15 days, Shami on Tuesday was seen on a field, wearing a strapping on his right leg and walking with the help of crutches. However, Shami will not be fit in time and will miss the T20 World Cup 2024 in USA and West Indies.
