Taking to social media, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami provided an update on his ongoing recovery journey following surgery to address an ankle injury. Despite facing challenges, Shami expressed determination and eagerness to return to the cricket field, emphasizing the ultimate goal of success.
In a post shared on ‘X,’ accompanied by a photo showing him using crutches, Shami conveyed his resilience, stating, “Back on track and hungry for success. The road may be tough, but the destination is worth it.”
Shami’s surgery in February dealt a blow, forcing him to sit out of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season and potentially miss the upcoming T20 World Cup slated for June-July.

His absence poses concerns for the Indian cricket team, given his significant role as a frontline bowler. Shami has been sidelined from cricket since the ODI World Cup final on November 19, where he last played against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Missing out on T20Is against Australia and subsequent Test series against South Africa and England, Shami also skipped representing Gujarat in IPL 2024, despite being the top wicket-taker in the previous edition. Despite his injury struggles, Shami remains optimistic about a swift recovery.
Despite battling injury during the World Cup, Shami emerged as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.
