Mohammed Shami ‘in doubt’ for first 2 IND vs ENG Tests, SKY to miss start of IPL 2024

Mohammed Shami is yet to prove his fitness ahead of IND vs ENG Tests while Suryakumar Yadav is likely to miss the start of IPL 2024

Fiery Indian pacer Mohammed Shami’s return to the field might take a little longer as he is set to miss the first two IND vs ENG Tests. Shami was rested for the series against South Afrcia after it was revealed that he had played the World Cup 2023 while carrying an injury.

Shami’s comeback delayed

As per Indian Express, an Indian board source claimed that Shami would miss the first two Tests against England. The source claimed that Shami hadn’t even started to bowl yet and that he will have to go to the NCA and prove his fitness.

“Shami hasn’t even started to bowl, he will have to go to NCA and prove his fitness. He looks doubtful for the first two Tests against England,” the source said.

SKY to undergo surgery

As for middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav, the star is set to undergo hernia surgery. SKY was out of action due to injury after the series against Australia at home. The Indian board source said that the batter woiuld need 8-9 weeks of training after his surgery. The source added that there was hope he would be fit in time for IPL 2024.

In Yadav’s case he will take more time than expected. After his hernia operation it might take up to eight-nine weeks for him to start training. Hopefully he will be fit during the IPL,” a source in the Indian board informed.
