Indian cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their star pacer, Mohammed Shami, to Team India after completing his rehabilitation following surgery. Shami was initially expected to make his comeback in the India vs Bangladesh series starting on September 19, but his return has been delayed. What is Mohammed Shami’s current fitness update? The pacer himself has shared the details.
Mohammed Shami fitness update
During the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) annual awards ceremony, Mohammed Shami revealed that he will not be making his return till he gets 100% fit.
“I am working hard to make a comeback soon because I know I have been out of action for quite some time. I want to ensure there is no discomfort when I return. I have to work on my fitness so there is no discomfort,” Shami said.
“The stronger I return, the better it is for me. I don’t want to rush and risk getting injured again, be it against Bangladesh, New Zealand, or the Australia series. I’ve already started bowling, but I won’t take any chances until I am 100% fit.”
When will Mohammed Shami retun to Indian cricket team?
Shami is likely to be seen in Ranji Trophy matches as his return to cricket field. For the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the target is still there. Shami is therefore unwilling to take a chance by making an early comeback to participate in the IND vs. BAN or IND vs. NZ Tests.
