Ranji Trophy: Mohammed Shami's brother rocks for Bengal, bags 3 wickets vs Assam

Mohammed Shami’s brother Mohammad Kaif continues to impress for Bengal in his debut Ranji Trophy season. Playing his fourth game of the season against Assam, Kaif bagged three crucial wickets. Though he didn’t fair well with the bat, Kaif was brilliant with the ball.

Bengal piled up a massive total of 405 runs in the first innings in their Ranji Trophy clash. In reply, Assam are 99/8 at stumps on Day 2. And Mohammad Kaif is one of the chief architects of Assam’s downfall. He along with Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal scalped 3 wickets apiece to break Assam’s backbone.

Bowling just 10 overs in the day, Kaif produced 3 maidens before picking up 3 wickets. He went on to dispatch opener Rahul Hazarika, before dismissing lower order batters Mukhtar Hussain and Rahul Singh. Kaif and Co will need to pick 2 wickets in the next day to ensure 3 points for Bengal.

Courtesy of their 1st innings lead, even if the match progresses to a draw, Bengal will get their crucial 3 points to move up to the 3rd place in Ranji Trophy Group B points Table.

Once again, the Bengal outfits had to reply on their new yet reliable pacer Mohammad Kaif. With this 3 wicket haul, Kaif has already bagged 13 wickets in 4 games for Bengal.
