Mohammad Hafeez contract extension hits snag, blames cricketers for poor performances

Mohammed Hafeez blames players for bad performance vs AUS and NZ as contract extension hits snag with PCB

Mohammad Hafeez’s contract extension as the National Team Director has been delayed. The PCB has been instructed to wait to offer a new contract to Hafeez. The Team Director met the PCB supremos to discuss about the Pakistan Cricket Team’s performance in Lahore.

The Pakistan Cricket Team has been performing poorly off late. Disastrous performances against Australia in the Tests followed by the T20I series debacle has caused the distress. Hafeez has given a performance report to PCB showcasing areas of improvement.

Owing to the snag between the PCB and Hafeez, his contract extension remains unresolved. Hafeez’s one-month contract is set to expire soon. Further reports claim that the ministry is not happy with Hafeez after Pakistan’s performances and is unwilling to give him a long-term contract.

“Hafeez also reminded Naseer that his dues from the tour should be cleared no matter what the ministry or incoming Chairman decides. Hafeez showed interest in continuing as Director of the team but the response he got was not very encouraging,” a source informed PTI.

Hafeez also complained to the PCB about the lack of interest from his players. The 43-year-old went on to claim that the players are more focused in playing international T20 leagues and franchise cricket.
