Mohammad Amir returns! Pakistan Cricket Team gears up for T20 World Cup at fitness camp with Pak Army

The Kakul camp will focus heavily on team building exercises alongside the grueling fitness routines. Experienced trainers and coaches will guide the players through a comprehensive program designed to enhance their physical conditioning, agility, leadership skills, and strategic thinking.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 29-member Pakistan Cricket Team squad for a rigorous fitness camp in collaboration with the Pakistan Army. This camp, starting March 26th, marks the beginning of Pakistan’s preparations for a busy cricket calendar, culminating in the ICC T20 World Cup later this year.

Shockingly, this camp includes the named of Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim. Notably, the duo has recently reversed their retirement decisions.

Pakistan Cricket Team sharpening for T20 World Cup

The players will be put through their paces at the Kakul camp in Abbottabad. The aim is to ensure peak physical and mental fitness before they embark on a series of matches, including a home series against New Zealand, away tours of Ireland and England, and ultimately, the T20 World Cup hosted by the USA and West Indies.

Competition Heats Up with Retirement Reversals

While players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah are likely locks for the T20 World Cup squad, the recent return of experienced campaigners Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim has intensified the competition for spots in the final 15-man team.

Mohammad Amir Out of Retirement

Pace bowler Mohammad Amir sent shockwaves through the cricketing world by announcing his withdrawal from international cricket in 2021. However, a stellar performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), including 10 wickets in 9 matches, has prompted him to reverse his decision and make himself available for the T20 World Cup.

Imad Wasim redemption after PSL Heroics

All-rounder Imad Wasim followed a similar path. He retired from international cricket in November 2023 but enjoyed a phenomenal PSL season with the Islamabad United team, culminating in a Player of the Match performance in the finals. This impressive comeback has convinced him to make another push for World Cup glory.
